Ecstatic Dance

A bimonthly Ecstatic Dance at the historic Honokaa People’s Theatre on the Big Island of Hawaii. We’ve been doing Ecstatic Dance in various forms and under different guidance for over a decade, and for this newest offering are excited to bring you a varied selection of some of the Big Island’s best dj’s, yogi’s and soundbath facillitators for a full spectrum Ecstatic Dance experience, usually once a month Sunday afternoon and once a month Saturday eve. Visit the Honokaa People’s Theatre website at www.honokaapeople.com or our focused Ecstatic Dance Page at www.mindbodysoul.dance for detailed information of current dances.

This Ecstatic Dance is a safe space for the whole community, an all-ages dance journey space for Mind, Body, and Soul. Music is a language that can carry you deep into the subconscious, beyond barriers you never knew you had, and into colorful worlds of synesthesia where your body becomes the instrument of bliss. The intent is uplifting, dancing that’s good for you on all levels, and a portion of each dance goes to a different local nonprofit each time, so you can feel good about taking steps towards building a healthy community as well.
We ask that there be no talking, phones, shoes, food, or beverages on the dance floor, and as always, events at the People’s Theatre are drug and alcohol-free.

Driving Directions and Parking:We are right in the Center of downtown Honokaa on Mamane Street, there is ample street parking and a community parking lot across the street from the Theatre.

Dance Guidelines

Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
