SOULSALAAM / REX RULAH

My MUsic

Having been one of the early inception DJs at The Sweets Ballroom Ecstatic Dance (circa 2008) for the most part follow the Ecstatic Dance structure and take people on a sonic body journey that constantly builds higher and higher and then comes down into full body relaxation. I’ve played Sweet’s 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2017 with Kid Beyond performing with me in my set, and in 2023 for Ecstatic Dance Unity in San Diego, CA. Thanks to Tyler having me over the years and I’d be grateful to come back to Oakland in 2024 with Kid Beyond and showcase some of my original music.

From acoustic to synthetic, from human derived to electronically derived, the fusion and the balance in perfect order to thoroughly engage the dancer. Coming from an African and Brazilian percussion and dance background it came naturally when DJing to focus awareness on the dancer and reciprocate the energy in a constant loop.  Also being a professional percussionist, I like to introduce live percussion into my mix.
