Jona Kunterbunt

I love the diversity of our planet and would like to take you on a colorful journey through the different emotional feelings, music styles, countries and cultures with my sets. My sets are emotional, peaceful and quiet, sometimes loud and brutal, sometimes deeply melancholic, sometimes radiantly happy, but always garnished with a pinch of humor and little crazy surprises. Musical sound spaces for meditating and dreaming, smiling, shaking your ass and wildly stomping and jumping around.

My MUsic

I love a wide range of musical styles and find it particularly exciting to craft sets that tell a story and always incorporate a rich variety of sounds, textures, and emotions.
I feel most at home in the downtempo realm, with a fondness for dub, world music, swing, tribal grooves, and chillstep. However, I am equally comfortable across many harder-edged genres—ranging from organic house to progressive, trance, techno, and drum & bass, all the way to rock-influenced sounds.

Bio

Music has been my great passion since early childhood. After growing up listening to a lot of classical music and singer-songwriters, I moved from rock and punk into electronic and spiritual music. In the early 2000s, I was deeply involved in music production, played in jam sessions, and launched various musical projects (such as *Frickeltonmaschine* and *Vegielektro vs. Hackepeter*).
After becoming a father and focusing on family life for many years, my musical work has once again taken on a significant role in my life over the past three years.
For the last two years, I have been performing one or two Ecstatic Dance sets a month under the name “Jona Kunterbunt.” Together with my partner and a few dear friends—forming the “Tanztraum-Kollektiv”—I also organize and host Ecstatic Dance events in Bielefeld, Germany (NRW). I frequently incorporate live music into my sets; as an enthusiastic semi-professional multi-instrumentalist, I love playing acoustic and electronic instruments live, using these sounds to touch hearts and get bodies moving.
In doing so, I enjoy using various synthesizers, drum machines, and effects units, alongside a vast collection of acoustic instruments—including didgeridoos, jaw harps, drums, handpans, overtone flutes, guitar, ukulele, bass, shakers, rattles, my voice, and occasionally even quirky sound sources.
