Ecstatic Dance

Saint Louis Ecstatic Dance is committed to continuing the tradition of Ecstatic Dance as a substance-free safe space for all to experience the joy of dance and movement that adds aliveness to both your body and the body of the community you’re dancing in and with.

Please note that anyone who violates the guidelines will be coached on the first occasion and uninvited on the second to preserve this as an open, authentic, safe space for everyone.

The small attendance fee helps everyone commit to which dances they choose to RSVP to as well as covering organizing fees (for things like listing on meetup-type apps) as well as chipping in for any rental fees when we are using in-person locations such as libraries; etc. and when we start growing in the future supporting our brilliant Facilitator’s and DJ’s.

PLEASE check the Meetup App for the current week’s information; especially during the winter months. This will get you the Zoom link to be able to join virtually until we are able to start meeting at the park. We are “Saint Louis Ecstatic Dance Meetup” in Saint Louis, MO on the Meetup App.

Thank you so much for thinking about joining us!
We can’t wait to move with you.

Dance Guidelines

Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
