Ecstatic Dance
We at Rhythm Sanctuary Kohala host a weekly freestyle movement dance led by our house DJ’s. Following the classic Ecstatic dance model of a dance wave, our music mixes many genres such as worldwide, electronic, afro-beat, house, bass, jazz, etc. Started in January of 2025, we are growing in popularity and love visitors! If you find yourself on the north end of the Big Island on a weekend, think of dropping by. At present we do not host an opening circle but do hold a closing circle at the end of the 90 minutes. The space is partially inside with a dance floor and partially outside on the lawn. Kieki often play on the lawn as parents and family dance inside or out.

KEIKI GUIDELINES
We welcome Keiki as part of our dancing Ohana! We get it: the music and energy on the dance floor can get them excited — it excites us adults, too!
-
We just ask the adults accompanying the keiki to kindly follow these guidelines to keep Rhythm Sanctuary Kohala a safe dance space for all:
-
Keiki (under the age of 10) must be under the constant watchful eye of their guardian(s) regardless of where they are dancing. This is for safety reasons for other adults and for the keikis.
-
We are fortunate to have a beautiful outside dancing space. Keiki may dance most freely outside on the lawn where they can run and vocalize as they want.
-
Keiki and their guardian(s) are encouraged to dance in the side room (to the left of the DJ area) when they are inside the Barn. In the side room, dancing needs to be quiet without rough-housing, swinging or running for example.
We appreciate your cooperation!
Thank you, the Rhythm Sanctuary Kohala Coordinators (Lori and Gab)
