Ecstatic Dance
Things to know before you go:
-LOCATION- We’ll mostly be at Lyons Park in midtown, near the main fountain, but some dances will have a change of scenery which I will update if it changes.
-TIME- We dance under the full moon each month because just as her energy grows stronger, so does nature’s (our) energy, (think of why more crime happens and babies born during full moons)! This is a perfect time to release anything that’s been weighing on you physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc… essentially the the idea of “dance your heart out”!
-HYDRATION- Please bring your own water bottle, but I’ll also have a cooler with water too, just in case! There may also be some dances in which I will provide some homecooked food, will post about that when it comes up.
-COMFORT- Bring something to sit on if you want for grass or under the pavillon. Also dress what you feel most comfortable in and what you don’t mind getting a little dirty!
-NATURE- We want to connect with nature as much as possible & stay grooving at the beautiful public parks around Mobile which means keep it clean, no trash left behind! We’ll have trash bags, but also just don’t litter please & thank you!
-FAMILY FRIENDLY – The music provided is age appropriate and does not include any hateful, vulgar, or ignorant language. This event is also encouraged to be substance-free for several reasons including safety & well-being of attending children & adults.
-FUN- We encourage you to bring any flow toys (i.e. poi, hula hoops, staffs, etc) or regular toys and art supplies because sometimes the creative juices flow through us in different outlets during the dance and we love to see the many styles of self-expression!
-DANCE- This event’s total duration is about 2 hours, which includes a 15 minute opening ceremony and a 10-15 minute closing ceremony, leaving about an 1.5 hours of actual dancing & playing!

Dance Guidelines
Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
