Ecstatic Dance

All ages welcome!

Please check out our Facebook group for the most up to date dance information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/182035299247833/

Offering a variety of musical genres, and reflective, encouraging prompts, we have a chance to surprise and challenge our bodies to move in new, unexpected ways. For fun, exercise and release. For introspection and self care.

Beginning and ending with a circle, we gather to hold space with one another and for ourselves. We ask only that you come sober and remain non verbal between the opening and closing circles.

Embodied TranscenDANCE is a Guided Dance Meditation offering space to connect with your self, body, mind and spirit; attune to your dreams, visions, hopes, fears, limitations and endless possibilities. To “unpack” what is being held, release and explore what is there, even if it is simply a chance to bounce about and have fun, stretch or be still.

Moving Through Habitual States, Stretching Into New Possibilities.

Come see what it is like for you!
No experience necessary, all bodies welcome!

Diane Brussell holds an MA in Somatic, Body-centered Psychology from Antioch University. She has supported individuals and groups with Authentic Movement Technique and Expressive Arts for 30 years. She is a certified Sivananda Yoga instructor as well as being certified as a Kripalu Yoga teacher. She taught most forms of dance, choreographed for musicals and dance concerts, and finds Embodied TranscendDANCE to be a form that combines the benefits of all of the above!

Andrew Baskin has been on the devotional and practical path of yoga for the last 20 years. For the past 6 years he has opened to the magic of primal energy through Taoist alchemical qigong and tantra. With his knowledge of the body as a representation of the unconscious mind, the practices of movement, qigong, dance, and martial arts are seen as powerful means of penetrating to the very core of our true selves, while strengthening and balancing this divine vessel. He is dedicated to supporting his own and others’ process of self awareness, growth and well-being through his offerings.

Dance Guidelines

Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
