THE PRACTICE:

Our Ecstatic Dance experience create a safe and respectful environment that embraces ‘all ways’. We offer a movement practice that supports your free expression of emotions and inner space through movement and music.

Our intention for these Ecstatic Dance classes is self-exploration, co-creation, expression, connection, fun, healing, expanding human potential and community building through freestyle ecstatic dance.

Freestyle dancing; some guidance & facilitation will be provided. And then we will let the music, the community and our own inner space direct our steps, movements, expression, our journey.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 IS ECSTATIC DANCE?

It’s a dance/movement practice to explore the feeling of moving your body freely. You are invited to move, play, connect, sweat, stretch, sound, express, twirl, swirl, renew, release, improvise, transform. Be true to yourself, while respecting your body and others, in this space that we co-create together. Move your body, unleash the wild dancing self without caring what people think, claim your freedom, open your heart & become the dance!

In Ecstatic Church You can expect variety on the ways that the space will be held, we usually have a special guest who brings their own medicine into the experience, sometimes a live Dj Set, a  wild live percussionist, an instrumentalist, singer, artists, dancer, an experienced movement facilitator and many more surprises that add an special juiciness and the element of surprise and flow to the session, we ask you to come with an open mind, expect the unexpected and be open for variety.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗖 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧?

ED music is eclectic and not linked to any specific genre. We start with ambient, chill out tunes then bring you on an ecstatic journey with electronica, EDM, world music, Shamanic House, Tribal and Downtempo Bliss and ethnic beats before bringing you back down with downtempo tracks and finish with a gentle sound bath. Ecstatic Music Journeys for Conscious Movement and Sacred Celebration.”

ED is a type of free-form dancing inviting people to connect to themselves and to others through music and movement. It takes places over a 1:30-hour Music  set and starts and finishes with a short opening and closing circle.

There are no teacher or rules, but we do ask you to follow a few guidelines:

1. No talking. ED is a silent practice -you are welcome to communicate with others with your body language, but please keep words outside the space.(if you wish to talk to, you are welcome to chat before/after dance outside the dancefloor). When we dance without speaking, something magical can happen on the dancefloor. A unified field of BEING emerges and we feel both wild and free, contained within ourselves and connected to something much, much greater than our individual selves.

2. No shoes. Barefoot dancing helps us ground ourselves by creating direct contact between our feet and the earth

3. No drugs/alcohol. ED is a conscious practice embracing mindfulness.

4. PHONE FREE ZONE. Encouraging safety & presence. BE HERE NOW

5. Respect of self and other. We ask participants to take responsibility for themselves, but also to watch out for others and be mindful of their personal space.

6. No spectating. Stay connected to your own body, sensations, emotions, and feelings. Ecstatic Dance is about you and your relationship to the Dance. Dancers feel uncomfortable when being spectated at. Come prepared to Dance yourself free from inhibitions without caring what others think.

7. You can dance alone, or with as many partners as (you) like to join. (If you’d rather not dance with someone, thank them for the offer by placing your hands in prayer position at your heart – Namaste.)

Q&A

-What to bring? A water bottle(thermo, reusable, we’ve put enough plastic on this planet)

-What to wear? Dress ready to move and sweat. Dress however you wish. This is your dance. Most dancers probably come dressed as they would for say a yoga or fitness class, or for a festival boogie.

-Are children allowed? Absolutely -we love kids! Our dances are family-friendly and under 12s can come for free . We recommend to bring ear defenders / plugs for sensitive ears.

-What are your social distancing and virus prevention measures? The space, equipment (and particularly the areas coming into contact with touch) are sanitised regularly by the Encanto beach club staff. There’s  also a bottle of hand sanitiser at the entrance of the beach club. The space is big and open.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧:

1. Next-level, conscious, inspiring electronic dance music

2. A beautiful, sacred, heartful and fun dance journey

3. A safe space for you to dance freely in

4. A community of Vibrant people who love to dance and love music!

NOTE:

To assist with creating a container that feels safe for all, please arrive in the space for the registration by 10:00 am. This is an important & valuable part of the practice so we can open the space together as a circle. We welcome you to the space and receive your loving contribution, and this takes time. We  ask all dancers to be ready for the opening circle at 10:15 am.

Be ON TIME to promote a container and to allow the fullest & deepest experience for all.

-If you come a bit late you are welcome to join the dance in a respectful way, but PLEASE we do want to ask you to help us to give your LOVING CONTRIBUTION at the entrance, remember that this is an important part of the GIVE-RECEIVE flow of abundance and keeps the energy flowing and a gesture of gratitude to compensate the beautiful artists that come to participate and to the organizers team as well.

– Thank you for your understanding and collaboration
