What We Know in our Bones
As the calendar turns from 2025 to 2026, Dance Remedy Lancaster invites you to explore Darkness and Light with us as the days slowly start to lengthen after the Winter Solstice. Within the safe container of sacred movement space, Heather Sowers and Shauna Yorty facilitate a gentle and embodied exploration of the gifts of deep knowing that can emerge out of the darkness during the cold time of winter. With chant, song and dance we wonder “What do we Know in our Bones?” We will dance together, holding this question in our bodies, hearts and spirits and bring the Light forth from within, taking it out into the world.
Doors are open at 2:45 and we begin at 3:00 p.m. with an introduction to ecstatic dance and our community. We end with a closing circle and the dance is done at 5:30. There are some interactive parts of our offering today and the majority of the event is ecstatic dance where everyone can move freely as they are led in the moment. People dance alone, with others without touching and with others with contact. Touch and contact is always consensual – everyone’s boundaries and comfort levels are respected. We always have space for people to sit or stretch on the floor and take breaks as your body needs it, there is no expectation to move the whole time. Ecstatic dance events are sober without the influence of alcohol or drugs, and we don’t speak on the dance floor or use phones, cameras or electronic devices.
All photos in this event list (except tree) are by Shauna Yorty and are of our actual events!
We also host Contact Improv on the Second Friday evenings of every month and InterPlay on the 3rd Saturday mornings — both at Lancaster Friends Meeting. Please email us to confirm times and dates.
There is parking available in a parking lot behind the studio as well as street parking.
