You are warmly invited to Full Moon Studio in Iowa City for an Ecstatic Dance experience with live percussionist “Regional Coordinator of the Cosmic Yes”.

[Note: Often Ecstatic Dance is known for electronic dance music, this event will be live percussion music and not EDM.)
Bring:
water bottle (suggested)-there is water on site

Altar item(optional)-if you would like to bring something to place in the center altar to connect with: your power, nature, spirituality, grief, life journey, loved one, sacred object (we won’t be sharing about these items, this will be for you to interact with on a personal level while dancing and it will also bring your energy to the space)
Note on spirituality: All spiritual traditions are welcome in this space
LGBTQIA+ friendly of course!
Clothing: You will likely get hot, so would advise layers.
Valuables: Best to leave in your car, there isn’t a great place to store personal items.
Important: Although this may feel therapeutic, this is not therapy. Each person is in charge of their own emotional experience on and off the dance floor. Of course all the emotions are welcome and this is a community held space. This means we let people have their individual emotional experience on the dance floor. If you feel a desire to ask someone if they want support that is fine, but they are welcome to say “no thank you”.
Some basic rules (copied from other Ecstatic Dance communities) to keep everyone feeling comfy and safe in the space:
-Be brave and dance, we are ALL dancers!
-Dance like no one is watching!
-Substance free space.
-Dance floor is for dancing, keep conversations to the outskirts of the space, thanks.
-Dance alone or with others, but please no contact on the dance floor. Physical safety/autonomy is a priority in this space.
-Please don’t take photos or videos (not everyone feels ready to share this with the world and we want people to be able to be in the moment).
-Avoid wearing scents.

Dance Guidelines
Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
