Ecstatic Dance
In Ecstatic Dance we attune to rhythm and move freely to where the music takes us, leading towards trance and a feeling of ecstasy. Dancers connect to their own body and emotions, while sharing the space with others. Our intention is to co-create a healing journey in which everyone feels safe, yet able try new things and push their edges! There will be an eclectic and immersive musical wave with a brief opening and closing circle.
Johnny Doyle: “I have been dancing and performing for 40 years and facilitating DANCEmandala since 2015. I love and play a wide range of music, leaning into Afro- & Tropical House and Tribal Trance for Ecstatic Dance. I always look for music that is strong yet subtle, poly-rhythmic and sometimes surprising!”
“Energy moves in waves. Waves move in patterns. Patterns move in rhythms. A human being is just that – energy, waves, patterns, rhythms. Nothing more. Nothing less. A dance.” ~ Gabrielle Roth

Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
