Ecstatic Dance

Convergence is the Saturday night dance party you’ve been waiting for: the sultry vibe of low lights, plenty of room on the dance floor to move, no yelling to be heard over the music, no one spilling their drinks on the dance floor. Tune in to the music, your body, your emotions, the flow of the room, and let loose! This is your chance to connect with others and experience the joy of ecstatic dance in a chill, welcoming space. (There’s even a quiet room for stretching and resting.) No experience needed – just bring your energy and wear clothes you can move in. Don’t miss out on this fun, in-person event where the music and your spirit come together!

Convergence is a conscious dance experience centering Queer & BIPOC folks and welcoming allies. All ages, ethnicities, sexualities, gender expressions, and bodies welcome! No: alcohol, drugs, smoking, shoes, devices, talking on the dance floor.

Convergence is a spinoff from the original Ecstatic Dance electronic music. It has expanded to include music you know and love as well as new music. It spans across musical genres including hip hop, reggaeton, Afrobeats, House, and music from around the world that has a driving beat and makes your body move.

Let the rhythm show you how to move, sing along or vocalize if the spirit moves you, dance alone or with a consenting partner. Use this as a sacred time to get in touch with your emotions, release the ones that no longer serve you and welcoming in joy, levity, play, and peace.

“Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement journey, held in a safe and sacred container, & facilitated by a professional DJ. It’s a place where we can be our unique selves, and also connected to a common source.” ~ecstaticdance.org

So put on your comfy clothes, come alone or grab a friend, and get ready to sweat it out! Experience the wonder of moving together silently in community and using body language to communicate. Come early to help create the space and stay afterwards to talk to the friend you made on the dancefloor and help clean up. Community is built by participating fully together, and we’re excited to connect with you!

Dance Guidelines

Ecstatic Dance – 3 Simple Guidelines
1. We Dance without shoes (or: We Dance Barefoot)
This allows us to connect more fully with the Ground (socks are OK)
If you have a physical condition that you need dance shoes, then OK
2. We Dance without words (or: We Dance with Body Language)
This makes it easier to be in a Meditative State
No Verbal Instruction from the Facilitators
No Talking from the Dancers
3. We Dance as We Are
No Drugs/Alcohol, No Phones, No Camera/Video, No Scents, No Expectations, No Judgements, No Shoulds, No Oughts… Just Be Yourself; With Respect for Ourselves, the Space, and One Another.
