Ecstatic Dance
Hi! Jenny Severo here, Founder of Ecstatic Dance Kansas City. Welcome!
Our dance community in KC began in March of 2016. I had just moved from the Bay Area where I attended Ecstatic Dance for 7 years at Sweets Ballroom in Oakland, CA. Ecstatic Dance has transformed my being and every aspect of my life in countless positive ways, and continues to do so. Bringing the gift of Ecstatic Dance to Kansas City has been one of the greatest joys of my life. It is a sacred honor to hold space as an Ecstatic Dance faciliator.
Ecstatic Dance Kansas City celebrated it’s 8 year anniversary in March of 2024. You’ll find a very beautiful, strong, thriving and loving dance communtiy here ready to welcome you with open hearts when you come through our doors.
We meet on the first Sunday of every month at Greenwood Social Hall, a beautiful space that was once a church in the early 1920’s. Please feel free to reach out to make sure dance is happening as I do travel in the Summer months.
So much love to you beautiful dancer. See you on the dance floor!

Dance Guidelines
There are guidelines/agreements that are universal to Ecstatic Dance around the globe. These guidelines create a safe and sacred container for us to express fully and freely. They are:
~ No talking on the dance floor once the music journey starts. This gets you out of your head and into your body so you can connect to yourself, the music and the energy.
~ No shoes on the dance floor. This keeps us from stepping on toes, and helps connect and ground us.
~ No photos/video. We are here to express freely without worry of distractions or having anything posted on social media. This is your time to un-plug and be fully present in the moment.
~ Ecstatic Dance is an alcohol and drug-free environment.
~ Get consent before dancing with someone or touching them. A simple hand on the heart or crossed arms can signal when a dancer is not wanting a partner.
